Visits to this scenic area near Aspen, CO is only by timed reservation these days. My camping reservation in the valley gave me free access to the peaks and lake at my convenience for 5 days. Daytime light was harsh for painting this classic vista, so I abstracted the daytime light into imagined moonlight, while painting in the shade early one morning.
